Acetal Polishing Unit - International Diol Co., Saudi ArabiaDPS Engineering was awarded the Detailed Design support to Kentz Engineers and Constructors for International Diol Company’s Acetal Polishing Unit (APU) Project in Saudi Arabia. The APU is designed to convert acetal (which is present in an existing crude butanediol (BDO) stream) to BDO by hydrolysis and high pressure hydrogenation. The APU shall be installed into an existing Petrochemical Complex and comprises of crude BDO condensing and cooling, hydrolysis/hydrogenation reactor and product recovery through water stripping with vent gas cooling and condensing. DPS Engineering’s support included, Equipment specification review, Vendor data review and Datasheet Preparation for shell and tube heat exchangers and condensers, stripper re-boiler, feed drums, reactor and water stripper vessels, vessel internals, vacuum package, pumps and filters. Review of material selection and specification of hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) resistant material was also carried out by the DPS specialist team. |
